HSP Launches Inaugural Internship Programme

Jul 2nd, 2012

Houghton Street Partners has kicked off its inaugural annual Private Equity Wealth Management Internship Programme in July 2012 with its first batch of eight interns. Coming from the US, UK, and France, the interns came from various backgrounds and degrees in business, political science, chemistry, and medicine. Two of the interns were USMA West Point graduates, Captain Matthew Lee and Captain Richard Kim, and also included two of Houghton Street Partners' newest recruits, June Tiong and Darryl Chuan.

The six-week long internship programme follows a proprietary curriculum developed by in-house and external specialists, supplemented by modules from leading institutions such as the Singapore Management University, Bloomberg and Wall Street Training, and is designed to provide the tools, perspectives and case-based work experience to enable our interns to develop the skills required to succeed in the wealth management and private equity industry. Highlights of this year’s programme include acquisition research techniques, technical excel analysis, investment portfolio construction, LBO modeling, family office structuring, investment memorandum writing, field trips and live project attachments. The programme was topped off with a one-week offsite in Seoul, Korea, where the interns visited companies and went on field trips to evaluate potential acquisition opportunities. During the offsite, the interns also got to meet the entire Houghton Street Partners team from all around the world.
